The core business of Giant Shield lies in the certification process from DOSH from obtaining Design Approval for lifting equipment to state registration for Certificate of Fitness (CF). This involves consultation in document submission, document fabrication i.e. design calculation, drawing review, technical specification, catalogue etc. 

GSE is registered as a certified crane fabricator with the Department of Occupational Safety & Health. Our fabrication yard and partner companies are always ready to fabricate your lifting solutions.

 

We also provide part supplies, testing and commissioning of cranes. Our crane packages include everything from the very initial design of the crane to the approval of Certificate of Fitness by DOSH.

GSE provide load test services for any type of cranes with a wide selection of load types, namely concrete blocks, steel plates, steel boxes, scrap metal and waterbags. Our range of accessories are comprehensive for any type of lifting. We also provide load cells, load frame, spreader bars and other related accessories for rental. Our load test service always come with skilled technical support and labor on site. Our engineers are prepared to design a load test suitable to your constraints and requirements. All our designs are according to DOSH's approval.

GSE specializes in structural analysis of any type of cranes and lifting equipment. We provide structural survey reports for quay cranes, overhead cranes, launching gantry, segment erector, portal cranes, gantry cranes, pedestal cranes, jib cranes and many more. Our reports are comprehensive in that it covers structural analysis, finite element analysis, fatigue life assessment and life cycle analysis all in accordance with recognized international standards namely British Standards and Eurocodes.

Giant Shield Engineering (M) is registered with the Department of Occupational Safety & Health. Since 2001, we have been assisting our clients with the registration and renewal of their lifting equipment and other machinaries. We provide Professional Engineer letter for our clients structure and equipment complete with endorsed design calculations for structure and foundation and arrange everything up to the point of collection of Certificate of Fitness. GSE scope of works include boiler, pressure vessel, crane fabrication, installation and commissioning, machine maintenance and services, preparation of design drawing and calculation, marine cranes, technical approval and certification from DOSH, testing and commissioning, general part supply, professional engineering services and load rental.

We provide equipment maintenance for cranes, hoists and vessels for the purpose of preventive maintenance as well as refurbishment services for conditioned equipments. 

 

Part replacements are also available for all components. 

Maintenance & Service

GSE provides Design Approval and Registration for unfired pressure vessels. 

 

Our clients often purchase unregistered vessels and utilizes our service to ensure that the vessels are inspected and registered with DOSH.

 

We can also arrange for Hydrostatic Test or assist with obtaining the examption status from DOSH where applicable.

PE endorsement is often required by DOSH for supporting structures of lifting equipment such as rail beams, columns, footings and foundations. Free standing, load bearing structures are also often required to be designed and endorsed by a Professional Engineer. 

 

GSE provides design work complete with calculations and drawings endorsed by our BEM registered Professional Engineers for Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering designs.

‘Section 34(2)(a) – No person shall except with the written permission of the Inspector begin to use any premises as a factory until one month after he has served on the Inspector a written notice in the prescribed form.’

 

Consultation Services

 

Every lifting equipment or other machineries listed by DOSH requires Certificate of Fitness before the machine is granted approval for start of operation. GSE provides renewal services for our clients where all related machineries will be applied for approval by the Department of Occupational Safety & Health. Any further requirement by DOSH such as testing and servicing before the equipment may be granted with CF can be obliged by GSE at the client's request.

 

In short, GSE provides registration of the followings with DOSH:

 

  1. Factory operation.

  2. Building construction.

  3. Work of engineering construction.

  4. Unfired pressure vessel (boilers, compressors etc.)

  5. Design calculation and drawing preparation for Design Approval from Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH).

  6. Fabrication, installation and commission of crane.

  7. PE endorsement for crane structure.

  8. Arrange inspection for registration and renewal of certificate of fitness (CF) issued by DOSH.
