Kuching Port Authority Structural Survey
This project was awarded by Senari Machinery Sdn. Bhd., the operator for Kuching Port in Kuching, Sarawak. The job package to obtain Design Approval and Certificate of Fitness involves performing conditional and dimensional survey and structural analysis of the 40 year old Derrick Crane.
The crane is now used as a training rig at KPA's training center. Structural analysis was performed with the use of STAAD. Pro V8i and Algor for Finite Element Analysis.
Non-Destructive Testing was also performed to ensure the condition of the steel parts. Modification to the boom was also performed and as such requires further analysis to ensure the new loading condition does not over strain the structure's original mast and supporting foundation. Our team was stationed in Kuching for a week at a time to ensure the full completion of the structural analysis, dimensional and conditional survey.
Several other visits were taken later on for other parts of the project package, including load test by DOSH Sarawak.
