The BEM requires that each PE candidate obtain 3 years of relevant working experience inclusive of design and project management work. At GSE, you will be given the opportunity to manage your own projects from beginning to end once you have projected maturity in handling assignments.
The experience and knowledge gained during your time with Giant Shield will prove to be rewarding when sitting for the Professional Interview (PI) to be a licensed Professional Engineer.
4 Simple Steps to be a PE with GSE
Induction and Training
Once you are offered a position in Giant Shield Engineering, you will be given ad-hoc training to help you understand and get familiar with the nature of work. Aspects of engineering analysis focussing on structural analysis and steel design as well as project management will be exposed to you.
Packaged Assignments
During your probation period of six months, you will be given assignments to further solidify your fundamental grasp of steel design and structural analysis. You will be required to keep a record of your assignments and continous learning.
Professional Development
Once you have projected confidence in managing projects, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the success of an entire project under your own supervision with minimal to no supervision. During these time, you will be required to record all activity and design work to be presented to your mentor PE. Regular visits to BEM as well as other requirements by BEM shall be required.
Professional Interview
Once you have gathered enough experience (minimum of 3 years as a Graduate Engineer), you may apply to sit for a Professional Interview by the BEM/IEM.
